My work explores the limits of words and writing, the limits of representation.
It ´s my intention to wander along the border between sense and nonsense,
between the possible and the impossible, surrounding the void.
I choose references from Taoism and Lacanian psychoanalysis literature.
I use writing as an object as well as the materiality of letters.
I take the text as a frame, a texture, weaving emptiness and sense, thus preserving the presence of the enigma.
This way, we are able to experience a pierced weave growing without a compass
and inviting the eyes to get lost in that very weave.
During the deconstructing process, I choose text fragments, especially poetry, and transfer them to various mediums:
paper, synthetic raffia, fabric, etc.
Those materials make it possible for me to cut, fold, embroider, tear, or fray, so sense can be interfered with.
I delve into several techniques, mix materials using thermofusion and “overlaid script” until they are joined together.
I also include accidents that occur along the process, and push materials to the limit, so as to make their frailty visible.
Owing to its diversity, mi artwork approaches aerial, soft, malleable weaves, in which words, as lines,
are diverted, fragmented, folded, disintegrated, and so on.
Letters become points, chips, threads.
Holes and cavities multiply, connect, and reveal a new, fragile, flimsy space.
Eventually, they become pieces worn on a body, hanging on a wall, or lain on a surface.
In my last series, “Beyond words” I work on the reinterpretation of the Braille system.
I do research about what’s impossible to express with words by changing to a new, tactile register.
I begin my work with an artist’s book, which ceases to be a communication system, and becomes illegible through sign perforation. It’s the possibility of evoking and searching for silence in other mediums.
