" White Fossil Pot "
38 x 38 cm
As a ceramic artist I work with minerals and their transformation into something new.
This is very inspiring, and makes me aware of themes like creation, time, life and death,
consciousness and evolution.
I try to achieve a feeling of inner life radiating from my pots, using simple and stringent shapes
with small irregularities combined with different surface treatments and patterns.
Nature is a huge source of inspiration for me.
Geology, sea life, plants, microlife, galaxies, natures processes…
I work mostly with stoneware and porcelain clays, fired in electric kiln.
As this firing technique gives nothing ‘extra’ to the pots,
I have been experimenting through many years with textures and
thin and thick layers of slips, glazes, oxydes and organic material to get ‘living’ surfaces.
The pots are rough and refined at the same time.I use a native Indian coiling technique for my big pots.
Smaller pots for use are made on my old kickwheel.collections.
