I am a wood-centric multi-material sculptor.
I create multi-axis wood forms using a lathe & other sculpting tools that are embellished with materials such as glass, metal, polymer clay & the odd bowling ball.
Recently, I started to play with making automata (moveable sculptures activated by audience manipulation)
so that anyone who sees my sculptures not only experience a story or a joke,
but can actively interact with what I create.
My use of multi-materials has been inspired & supported by over 30 years’ experience
as a theatrical properties artisan & designer.
This included live stage, television, movies, a couple of Olympic ceremonies
& any other event needing the design & execution of 3-dimensional objects.
I find it exciting to challenge myself with the use/repurposing of objects,
materials & processes that may be unfamiliar in order to execute a totally new configuration.
I hope that my audience will be surprised & delighted by these creations & be drawn into my whimsical world.
I am currently a full-time artist living & working in Los Angeles, California.
